Responsibility

Question:
Okay, now I'm a meditator. Aside from getting to the chair twice a day, what's my responsibility?

Thom's reply:
Every meditator’s responsibility is to raise one’s individual state of consciousness to the highest level possible. The need of the time demands this in our personal lives as much as it is demanded by this stressed world in which we live.

Every day, by living, breathing, and interacting on this earth each of us has an opportunity to raise the collective standard of behaviour. No-one intent on personal enlightenment has the right to suffer, no-one intent on creating world peace has the right to suffer; because suffering cannot be performed in isolation— the effect of the habit is that suffering spreads to others.

It is our birthright to experience bliss consciousness 24 hours a day; that is our full potential. Bliss is contagious, too. It is our goal to increase bliss in every meditator. Clear intellectual understanding of our experiences, both in meditation and outside the practice, is essential for rapid growth to the state of full, permanent enlightenment.

By the grace of Shri Guru Deva, our master from whom we have this meditation, my specialty is in bringing that understanding that shines light on how to stop suffering.

Days and nights are passing irresistibly—we do not wish to postpone our happiness and that of our world to some vague future date. Come to my meetings. Bring your friends to my introductory talks. Let me see your bright faces; help me in my lifelong endeavour to lift the world out of the suffering habit.

Jai Guru Deva
